My name is Mike Boyd and a while ago I made a video documenting my process of learning a new skill in a really short amount of time. That idea seemed to resonate with people, so I decided to learn a bunch of other skills. Every month I pick a new challenge and try to conquer it as quickly as possible. Hopefully this content inspires you to learn something new too. Leave a comment telling me what you think and let me know if you have a suggestion for a new challenge. Enjoy the videos! :)
Training to be in the strongest 5% of the population
Go to www.thorum.com/ and use code MIKEBOYD to get 20% off a truly unique ring or watch.
In this episode I find out how long it will take me to bench press my own bodyweight, pullup 1.5 x my bodyweight and deadlift twice my bodyweight. At the time of filming I weighed 70 kg (154 lbs). Apparently this puts you in the top 5% of the population in terms of strength. I'm not sure about that, but deadlifts sure are hard!
Filmed at Block10 in Dundee.

Try Headspace for 30 days for free: headspace-web.app.link/e/MB30 Use code: BOYD30D In this week's episode I try to lead my first on sight trad climb with @WideBoyz's Pete Whitaker. The aim was to do swinging leads on a 3 pitch climb with me taking the lead on pitches 1 and 3. Since there were no bolts, I'd have to learn to place my own protection. Go to www.thorum.com/ and use the code MIKEBOYD to get 20% off a truly unique ring. This week I designed a dice (or die) that will allow me to win at snakes and ladders every single time. I used an Arduino with some basic electronics equipment, electromagnets with magnets embedded in a loaded dice that gave the result I wanted.

This is insane.
My buddy had a VW Beetle in high school. We would bump start for fun.
That does it, I’m trying it! Great video, wish me luck 😅
What if bro busted during the match
Clean your keyboard dude
@andreabotez
I hate these tests as a tall man 😂 I’m 6ft5 so I’m a heavier guy, 95kg. But bench and squat is therefore much more difficult because of my arm and leg span. There’s a reason powerlifters aren’t typically 6ft+ Unless they are strongman which is primarily other events.
None of this wouldve happened if magnusson had accepted defeat 😭
Nahhh wtf
Why do you speak six like sex?
Since it´s the first hour, it´s hour 1, not 0. You´ll have to reshoot all your videos.
In Brazil it is called "bilboquê", although it doesn´t have the cups around the spike and at the bottom.
Can you make a tutorial on how tocreate the cheating device ?
Couldn’t imagine butter going bad.
dude stfu...you can't send fucking live update to device so stfu
Why people believe that a lower tier guy can't beat a high tear guy. This game has thousands of moves...you make one mistake and game goes into a more favorable position or not. You constantly get feedback of the moves etc. You can't predict what your opponent is going to do maybe 5, 6 moves into future. So STFU Niemann didn't cheat.
🤓☝️
I'm afraid that super glue is not body safe.. lol
Now buy a mini cow and start a milking
I'm subscribed for about 6 years on this channel, and it's safe to say that you're one of the best UA-camrs ever. Every single video motivates me to try something new and kinda gives me a little bit of reason to keep leaving my days. Thank you for everything.
People in the old days were tough. It looks so easy to wipe out on. Is it exhausting constantly pedal?

Karate Kid!!
You don't need to Faraday cage the whole tournament. Just the players. And it probably doesn't have to be a complete cage. Just having walls would probably be enough, so long as they were tall enough to prevent enough diffraction around the barrier.
Bench should have been 2x
But they had metal detectors and electromagnetic spectrum radio signal scanners right! 🤷🏻♂️🤔 How did they not catch him at the tournament!? 🤷🏻♂️
Your deadlift form is pretty good. It looks like you could activate your glutes and posterior chain a bit more, but overall it's decent since you are still able to keep your back straight. Much better than some of the super heavy deadlift videos I've seen on the internet. And I actually think your form actually improved a bit at the higher weights. It wouldn't hurt to try and get your stance slightly wider to keep your shins perpendicular to the floor and avoid varus forces (outward forces on the knee). It looks like your knees want to push out when you are lifting. Pretty good overall though. Shin scrapes are actually a good sign that you are lifting correctly and not swinging the bar forward or leaning forward. What a weight belt does it essentially compresses your core. Pressure in your torso created by muscle tension and air pressure is a factor in being able to keep your core "tight" and your back straight during a deadlift, so the belt creates that pressure for you and reduces the amount of pressure you need to create yourself. I personally believe that you should avoid using a belt unless you are pushing for a PR, because it can actually create a weakness in your core if you get used to relying on the belt, and it looks like that is how you used it so that's good. Also I'm not a fan of your pull up form. You're not going up far enough or down far enough each rep. But as long as you're happy with it that's what matters. :)
I'm 44. It's taken me 9 months to do a 140kg deadlift and that level of bench. Would be nowhere near that weighted pull ups. I've had that exact frustration around 130kg and taking a week off and then smashing it. In terms of a strength type gym I don't feel that strong. You forget what your average person would lift. I'm currently trying for 150kg before the year. That will feel like a big milestone.
Normally i like to troll people's achievements but this harambe's cousin deserves the praise.
You actually need whole milk
